Skin Care after summer

As Summer begins to fade away and temperatures begin to fall, you may not notice the effects that the colder temps have on your skin. Getting the kids back to school and weather proofing the pool can be all-consuming. When life calms down, here are some simple ways to rehydrate your skin after summer:

1)    Exfoliate:

Summer sun, sweat, sand, and chlorine, may have left your skin feeling dry, flaky, and dehydrated. Start the fall season with a thorough exfoliation of your face and body to help to shed dead dehydrated post-summer skin. Exfoliation also helps you skin absorb products more readily.

 2)    Cleanse:

As temps drop it’s time to consider a creamier, gentler, non-clogging cleanser for added moisture and protection.

 3)    Hydrate and moisturize:

When the weather turns colder, it’s your cue to add more emollient products to your daily skin care regimen. The drop in humidity can lead to dehydrated inflamed skin.

Here are a few tips that can help:

  • Lay it on thick – Your skin needs a stronger, creamier barrier in the colder months. Use a thicker, richer moisturizer to liven up dehydrated cells and maintain soft skin all year long.

  • Consider a serum-Applying a serum under your moisturizer is an excellent way to boost hydration and protect the skin from the cold.

  • Turn on your humidifier – Increasing the humidity in your home or office is an excellent way to infuse moisture giving your skin relief from the dry climate heaters can cause.

  • Hydrate your diet – On top of the recommended 8 (8oz) glasses of water per day, hydrating body tissues from the inside out is another excellent way to increase moisture levels. Try leafy greens, water-rich fruits, and healthy fats and  avoid dehydrating substances such as alcohol and caffeine. Liquid Collagen is another excellent way to nourish the skin from within and help it to become more firm and plump.

Saying goodbye to summer doesn’t have to mean you are saying hello to dry skin. Hydration can be simple and it doesn’t have to break the bank. For more Skin Care Tips check out the blog at
